My Students
The physical population of the community displays lowered self-image and decreases aspirations when compared to those in surrounding areas. Many students live in substandard housing and their parents are receiving government assistance. Historically the area in which they live promotes lowered self-image, decreased academic achievement and lack of a personal belief system that offers success.
The area in which the students live has been economically disadvantaged due to major industries leaving the area and leaving the residents in poor working class status or unemployed.
The overall community struggles with an east-side, west-side concept, with students who live in and attend school on the east side area being considered substandard in both intellect and economics and physical abilities.
My Project
Students need to develop individual and independent work skills. In developing a workspace I can increase a student's motivation to by providing them with a classroom that meets the needs of a 21st-century student.
My students need Flex-Space Collaborative Floor Work Space Bundle to increase student motivation by making the room student-centered, not teacher-centered.
By providing the individual workspace each student will be able to work at their own individual pace. Evolving the classroom space to meet students’ individual needs impacts how they learn, how they interact, and the entire classroom experience. when a learning space evolves, students' work improves immensely, their grades improve.
