Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My student's are from a from a high school that depends on school breakfast, lunch, groceries and school supplies all provided by the school . Many of our students work after school to help their families make ends meet. The students are taking on adult responsibilities at a young age when they should not be. I grew up in the same situation as my students, I graduated from the same district from the rival high school. I decided getting an accounting degree and a masters in technology would help provide financial stability, and this decision forever changed my life.

After working in industry I decided to change careers and become and educator to teach various business courses such as: accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, real estate, financial literacy (just to name a few) in hopes that I can provide the students guidance on how to obtain an education in business or technology by sharing my story as well as teaching them the material.

My Project

I am asking for financial calculators. I want my students to have the opportunities that I had by obtaining a degree in accounting and working in the finance industry. Therefore, the students need the necessary classroom tools in order to do so.

With these financial calculators students will have the ability to learn and understand financial concepts such as: interest rates, future value, present value, and payments.

Once the students understand how these concepts can be applied in real life they will be able to gain knowledge and pass it on to other family members.
