Why My Students Need Scholastic Storyworks Magazines

Dear Donors,

My students are eager readers who benefit greatly from engaging, high-quality materials that build literacy skills and foster a love for learning. Scholastic Storyworks is an exceptional resource that provides just that. Each issue offers a diverse range of genres—narrative nonfiction, fiction, drama, poetry, and informational texts—designed specifically for upper elementary students. The articles are written at an accessible level and paired with rich visuals and comprehension supports, making them ideal for all types of learners.

Many of my students do not have regular access to magazines or books at home. Storyworks gives them a chance to read content that’s exciting, current, and age-appropriate, while also reinforcing key reading strategies such as identifying main ideas, understanding text structure, and making inferences. The magazines also include vocabulary development, critical thinking questions, and opportunities for writing, all aligned to literacy standards.

With your support, I can provide each of my students with their own copy of Storyworks, which not only boosts their reading skills but also gives them a sense of ownership and pride in their learning. These magazines are more than just reading material—they’re a doorway to curiosity, discussion, and a lifelong love of reading.
