Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom involves a lot of movement, collaboration among students, and a comfortable learning environment.
The students in my room from our school are eager, full of vigor, and very active.
My population is a mix of multi-level English Language Learners and English Only Students. We are a Title I school with a lot of school pride. We as a staff and student body are proud of our school, our accomplishments, and the direction we are heading as 21st century learners.
My Project
Reading is an essential part for all students lives. The saying goes that grades kinder through 2nd, students are learning to read, and grades 3 and up they are reading to learn. Finding engaging reading materials that incorporates fiction and nonfiction material that will grab young readers attention is important to engage their love for reading. This would be the second straight year for our room to have access to StoryWorks. My students last year loved the engaging stories, and loved the technology links that supported each one.
StoryWorks classroom readers will not only help students learn to read, it will also help them read to learn.
For 2nd grade students to have access to enriching reading materials and resources will help them on their way to becoming great readers who have a deep love of reading!
