My students walk into our classroom every day full of hope and promise, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I challenge them each and every day to learn something new and share it with me the next morning. I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything.
I teach a diverse and energetic group of amazing 4th graders!
My students are eager to learn each and everyday. They encompass all socioeconomic levels and have a diverse set of experiences that make our classroom like no other. My scholars believe in themselves because they know that I believe in them. They fully understand that good is not good enough. I expect greatness each and everyday.
Guided reading is our favorite part of the day. It allows me and my students to interact in a small group and become better readers. I have made it my goal to improve reading in all students this year. My students enjoy reading all types of text, not just the traditional books. Shorter, engaging text like the ones in the Storyworks Jr. allow students to be exposed to dramas, poetry, nonfiction articles and interviews, as well as funny fiction stories.
Storyworks Jr will address the need of my lower level learners.
The text is at a lower level but will provide students engaging text that will foster a love for a variety of text and thus helping with comprehension. They will also be able to choose books that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these magazines will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the print rich text.
