My Project

This Title 1 School serves students from Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade. As a first-year librarian in the elementary school, I am working to build an inclusive library collection that not only represents our students but the changing world around them. Our county is a rural county that serves students in four different elementary schools.

In addition to new books, the hope is to increase the support for ESL & Special Education with high-interest, low-text books that can help English learners and students with reading challenges.

Long-term goals include mentorship & buddy reading where older students can read to younger ones, fostering leadership and peer learning. Finally to offer seasonal and thematic books to rotate around in the seasons, holidays, or based on classroom lessons to keep the students engaged.
