Storytelling in the Library!

Help me give my students books that we need to learn the art of storytelling.

My Project

I am the librarian at a Title 1 school. Our school population is diverse and 75% of our students come from low income families. Many do not have books at home for families to read together. Our students are special and deserve to have books that other schools with more funding have access to.

The items in this project will be used to teach story telling to our students to help them become better readers to their siblings.

The art of reading aloud takes practice and I want to model this in our library lessons. I selected books that will best serve this project and help me teach students the art of storytelling.

The polar bear costume is our school mascot and will be used on family reading night when we have volunteers read stories in the library. We always read a story about polar bears!

The Dog Man sign will be used as a prop for storytelling one of the most popular series read in our school.

5th graders in our school also read to our 1st graders. This is a great program and our students love and are always looking for new books and fan favorites of 1st graders.
