My second-grade students are 7 and 8 years old. They come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, yet they all share the same enthusiasm for learning each day. They are developing their academic and social skills to make them lifelong learners!
Having experienced gaps in learning due to the pandemic, my students are craving hands-on learning experiences to help them collaborate with their peers.
They strive to make sense of their world and desire to feel secure in a structured learning environment.
Second Graders are inquisitive and active learners who desire opportunities to increase their skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, math, science, and engineering through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. This project will give students opportunities to explore the world around them through STEM activities from Teachers Pay Teachers in which they will learn through design and play.
By donating to this project, every second-grade student will engage in nine different Storybook STEM units through thematic, monthly read-aloud books that are accompanied by differentiated literacy and math activities and STEM challenges that are aligned with ELA and NGSS standards.
These activities will increase knowledge and help students explore and engage in peer collaboration while learning through a creative process.
