I have a lot of students who do not get a lot of attention outside of school. They are willing to learn and very excited about being at school! My students are bright, motivated, and have the talent to light up a room. I would love to be the teacher to provide them with the resources they need to be successful in their future. My students are always excited about new activities that they would not be able to do at home. I would love to provide them with opportunities at school that they would not be able to experience at home.
Some of my students have been displaced from Hurricane Michael and have lost their homes.
These students have become part of my classroom and love to come to school for their normalcy. They enjoy coming to school and enjoying how to be a kid again after missing school for months.
My Project
I would like to have a subscription for Storyworks Jr. so that my students can read at school and be able to take it home. Storyworks Jr. is beneficial for English Language Learners, it aligns to Florida Standards, and has many creative stories. It will provide my students with practice in skills such as close reading and critical thinking, main idea, cause/effect, text evidence, compare/contrast, making inferences, and paragraph writing. Storyworks Jr. has nonfiction features focus on curriculum-related science and social studies topics, vocabulary, and nurture higher-level thinking and analytic reading, writing, and grammar skills.
Storyworks Jr.
will be a wonderful resource for the home and school connection. We can read in the classroom and have parents and their kids have a resource they can use at home to increase fluency. It is a win win for parents and teachers to help students become successful.
