I have 21 amazing children who are all 5 years old! We have 11 girls and 10 boys in our class this year. We live in a rural area on the eastern shore of Maryland not too far from Annapolis. We have children from two-parent families, single parent families, and several who speak English as a second language. About 30% of our class gets free or reduced-price meals, and a few take home a bag of food each weekend from our local Backpack Club food pantry program. These boys and girls are excited to learn and are extremely hard workers who like to please their teachers! These children are excited to learn and grow in their first full-day school experience!
My Project
My students are highly motivated by STEM activities and other hands-on learning centers! While we spend much of our day in whole group, small group, and individual learning experiences, they truly look forward to their time with peers in learning centers.
We would love to add new fairy tale and science-based STEM centers to our classroom!
By adding these materials to our learning centers, children will be able to work cooperatively to plan, build, test, and redesign creations with peers. The children will be able to link literacy, science, technology, engineering, and math together in a variety of ways. Children will be working on problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills, and perseverance while completing all of these activities! We thank you for helping us reach our goals!
