My Project

My 8th grade students are curious, passionate, and eager to connect with the past. They love diving into historical fiction, stepping into the shoes of people from different eras, and seeing history through multiple perspectives. Whether it’s the story of a young girl navigating the challenges of World War II, a teenager caught in the fight for civil rights, or a family experiencing immigration journeys, these books allow my students to explore history in a way that feels personal and meaningful. These books would complete my classroom library!

Every student in my classroom learns differently.

Some thrive in discussion-based learning, connecting historical events and today's world. Others are visual learners who benefit from immersive storytelling that paints vivid pictures of the past. Many of my students are multilingual learners, and historical fiction helps them engage with complex ideas in an accessible and engaging way. By providing a diverse selection of historical fiction novels, I want to ensure every student finds a story that speaks to them.

The books I’m requesting will help my students develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and a deeper understanding of history. My goal is to build a classroom library that reflects diverse voices and perspectives, helping students see themselves in history while also learning about experiences different from their own. These novels will not only support our curriculum but will also encourage independent reading and a lifelong love of literature.
