Stories of a Doll House

My students need a dollhouse to help them express themselves and their problems during counseling sessions.

I am a first year school counselor split between two elementary schools serving pre-K through 5th grade. Both schools I serve are high-poverty title one schools in South Carolina.

Many of my students have unstable home lives that hinder their ability to learn. They deal with more drama in their family at their tender age than anyone should ever have to endure. Because of their backgrounds, they often find it hard to trust others and to open up about their problems.

Utilizing a doll family and doll house when counseling students will allow them communicate what goes on in their homes through play which is a natural means of communication for children. I am trained in child-centered play therapy and a doll house is one of the best tools a counselor can use when working with young children.

I hope that you consider donating towards this worthy project as it would benefit so many of my students in need!
