Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you believe in change? Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to access countless books and information with a simple touch? I would like to open that window of learning to my children. These tablets will help us access Storia eBooks and help differentiate instruction.
I have a wonderful group of first graders who are very inquisitive and excited about learning.
Some of my students are mainstreamed and require special assistance and accommodations. I have many students that do not speak English at home and will benefit from vocabulary enrichment.
My Project
I will be using these Kindle Fire with Storia eBooks. These books are from Scholastic and they inspire students to read and share their love of reading with others. They offer Read to Me titles for the beginning or struggling readers as well as challenging readers with author interviews and contextual learning activities for students that need to be challenged. It also helps enrich their vocabulary with the Storia dictionary which is available with a simple tap on the word. I plan to have a Storia Literature Circle in my class. Students will be able to share their thoughts and communicate at a deeper level the content of stories. They will be able to, with my assistance, research topics related to their stories and extend their learning making real life connections. This is the foundation of learning. These Kindles will open the doors to my students' imagination will help inspire them to grow and learn in these important formative years.

They will be intrigued about the story they are reading, they will want to learn about who wrote the story ,why they wrote it, their personal connections to the story, and the connections the story has to real life situations.
