My Project

There are well over 150 students on maintenance medications for chronic diseases such as Asthma, ADHD, Seizures, and Diabetes, and many students with diagnoses that may result in medical emergencies requiring administration of medications in school such as an EpiPen, Diastat, etc.

All medications should be kept in a securely locked cabinet used exclusively for medications.

Access to all medications should be limited to approved personnel such as the CSN or RN, except that in life-threatening emergencies, designated personnel may have access.

Younger students and those who just found out they have diabetes will need help with everyday diabetes care. Creating a space where they feel safe and have access to their medications and Care Plan is essential. Unfortunately, the cabinet that I currently have is broken, and, therefore, I am trying to purchase new cabinets that lock and storage bins to keep each child's medication separated so that there is no room for medication errors.
