My students are passionate about learning! They have beautiful and creative minds; they need a little help bringing it out. I want to teach my students organizational skills and to help them bring out their creativity.
My students are full of life and energy and are always excited to learn.
They come from a disadvantaged school on the Windward side of Oahu. Our school is located in a predominately rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children of Hawaiian or Micronesian ancestry. I have a very diverse class of 16 students from different cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. They are motivated young students who struggle with learning due to the lack of accessible tools.
My Project
My kindergarten classroom is a busy place! The physical setup of our class is geared toward students working independently and in small groups. My students use a lot of hands-on materials throughout the day to enhance their learning experience. Finding a place for all the stuff where it is accessible for everyone can be difficult.
Students thrive in environments that are clean, neat, and organized.
Having an organized space helps the students to feel calm and relaxed. This tranquil space is beneficial for all students and critical for those who may not have a quiet area at home.
We need a sturdy storage shelf and bins to help keep our materials organized and easy to access. This project will improve our classroom by giving my students easy access to those materials we commonly use in school. The bins and carts will be used to teach my students organizational skills of materials that they use daily. The cart will allow for smoother transitions during our daily lessons and small group instruction time, which means more time for instruction and learning!
