This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a diverse group of students, and one of the biggest challenges we face is staying organized in the classroom. With the increasing number of hands-on STEM activities—ranging from building projects to science experiments—our classroom often becomes cluttered with notebooks, pencils, tools, and materials. This disorganization can disrupt the flow of learning and make it difficult for students to transition quickly into STEM activities that require focus, creativity, and collaboration.

To ensure that my students are able to engage fully in STEM learning without distractions, I am requesting funding to purchase chair storage sacks and bins for each student.

These storage solutions will allow my students to keep their essential supplies organized and within easy reach, which is crucial for hands-on STEM activities. By reducing desk clutter, we can create an environment where students can focus more on innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Each student will have their own storage sack and bin, giving them a designated space for materials like science tools, building supplies, and project materials. This will enable quick access to resources, reducing disruptions and allowing for smoother transitions between activities. The storage sacks and bins will also promote student responsibility, as they will take ownership of their materials, fostering independence and organizational skills that are important for future STEM success.

Reducing clutter will allow for more effective collaborative group work, a key component of STEM education. In group projects, students will need to share resources, brainstorm ideas, and work together creatively to solve problems. Providing organized spaces will help students focus on teamwork and innovation rather than searching for materials.

Providing these organizational tools will help my students maximize their time and effort during STEM activities, ensuring they are more prepared and motivated to dive into problem-solving and discovery.
