My Students
My students are middle school students, age eleven to fourteen. They dedicate themselves before the school day, during the school day, and even on weekends to our school music program. I conduct five different ensembles in the school, including concert band, jazz band, and marching band. We participate in two annual music competitions; one statewide and one northeast regional. We also perform at our local elementary schools and during our Spring Musical. In addition to my performing classes, we have students in our Core Music program as well. These students learn the essentials and foundations of music, such as reading notation, counting rhythms, playing keyboard, and even performing on bucket drums.
My Project
Several years ago my students were fortunate enough to receive fantastic marching band uniforms secondhand from another school who purchased new materials. We received an overwhelming amount of uniform pieces that we do not have proper storage for. They are currently being stored in worn cardboard boxes that tear each time they are moved.
We are in desperate need of plastic storage totes that will allow us to maneuver the remaining materials without further damaging the boxes.
Each year I have parent volunteers help my students find a uniform by trying on several different pieces before finding the right fit and this continued rummaging through boxes has resulted in boxes with pants and jackets literally hanging out of them. In order to keep these materials in great condition for future use, we have to find proper totes for these uniforms.
The items I am requesting are large enough in size to store large jackets and tall pants. The students are constantly reminding me to change to totes and I finally had enough today when I pulled a box and it tore down the entire side. Please help us alleviate this very annoying situation.
