My students need a wagon and storage as they move from garden site to garden site on campus. A central location to store everything would also be helpful.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school are awesome! When presented with the idea of starting a garden they jumped at the opportunity. They eagerly researched designs and crop options. Now they are ready to make their plans a reality. Of the 630+ students at our school 60 plus were interested in joining the student garden club. Twenty-five students were chosen for the initial team to be educated and trained in preparation to become our student ambassadors.
We are a Title I school.
The majority of the students come from economically disadvantaged homes and 95% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Despite this, these students come to school hungry for knowledge and determined to get it. They work hard and though some are identified as being "below grade level" academically, they are undaunted. In spite of the hardships they face, or maybe because of them, these kids come in smiling each day and full of ideas!
My Project
Our garden is well under way. We have a "Starter Hub". This is a courtyard where we start seedlings and transplant sprouts. And, we have two gardens set up outside. However, it's difficult for the kids because their supplies are stored throughout the building in multiple classes. They'd like to have a storage section within the media center next to the courtyard. Their gardening gloves, baskets, and small tools would be there for those students assigned to monitor the garden. They wouldn't have to go check in with a sponsor and grab their supplies and tools before getting to work. This storage unit and wagon would facilitate their independence as they go about their gardening duties.
