Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my bilingual kindergarten classroom, literacy comes to life in both English and Spanish. Every day, my students explore books, practice their reading skills, and connect with stories that reflect their lives and cultures. To help them fully engage, they need access to rich texts and an organized learning space that supports independence and structure.
This project includes a collection of Spanish and bilingual books, such as ¡Diez manzanas en la cabeza!, Ven a mi casa, The Gingerbread Man, and A Piñata in a Pine Tree.
These titles will help build vocabulary, listening comprehension, and fluency in both languages. Many of these stories tie into seasonal themes and cultural celebrations, which allow students to connect reading with real-world traditions and joyful classroom moments.
To help create a more organized environment, I’m also requesting chair pockets with name tags for each student. These will give every child their own space to store books, journals, and reading tools. When students can easily find what they need, they are more focused, confident, and ready to learn.
This project also includes a Samsung SmartTag and a flash drive case to help me manage and protect small classroom technology tools like USB drives, headphones, and devices we use in our reading stations.
