This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I believe the most important message of my anti-bullying lesson is that in order to respect others and receive respect, you must first respect yourself. I believe the more self-confidence a person has, the less likely they are to bully, make fun of others or to become victims of bullying.

I have twenty-eight wonderful students.

My students are growing up in an inner-city neighborhood where they see how gangs bully their streets. Bullying can be found in every school in the country. It is the way young people interact in our society. Every school must recognize the extent, impact and take steps to stop it from happening. When bullying is ignored or downplayed, pupils will suffer ongoing torment and harassment. Sometimes my fifth grade students can become cruel to each other, but with the help of these books, they can become educated on the topic. They can become peacemakers for the school and their community. They will love reading "Bullying in Schools" and the other anti-bullying books.

My Project

Bullying can cause lifelong damage to victims. Both bullies and those regularly victimized are more likely to become criminals. A school's failure to deal with bullying endangers the safety of all its pupils by allowing a hostile environment to interfere with learning. There is clear, unambiguous evidence that school action can dramatically reduce the incidence of bullying. I plan to introduce the book "Bullying in Schools" to my class to educate my students on how to stop bullying. I'm also planning to use the iPod touch to research more on the cause and effects of bullying. The students will do the research, type an essay and present it to class. The iPod touch will allow my students to create musical videos against bullying with a garage band. The materials I'm requesting, with your generosity, can help develop a positive learning environment. You can help make a huge difference in their daily way of living. I also need the Kindle sleeves to protect our class Kindles.

Successfully dealing with bullying involves building a genuine community within the class and school.

Everyone accepts they have the right to be free from harassment and that they have the responsibility to support their weaker and more vulnerable peers. I will use "Bullying in Schools" to create a safe environment. I need your help so I can provide books that will help my students to learn how to deal with bullies in and out of school. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
