My Project
Libraries foster literacy skills and a love of books, but they also serve as an important place for students to develop their creativity, storytelling, and collaboration skills. To this end, I am teaching a stop-motion animation elective this semester to cultivate these skills and promote the joy of learning.
Middle school students need materials to make their ideas come to life through the art of stop-motion animation!
With paint and canvases, students will create their own original backgrounds as settings for their stories. With LEGO mini-figures and animal figurines, students can represent the characters they have designed during our in-depth planning phase. Finally, iPad stands will allow students to stabilize our set of library iPads while taking their photos.
Through this class, students will progress through every step of the storytelling process: brainstorming, planning, revising, editing, and finally producing! At the moment, we are working on the planning portion. These items will allow students to turn their wonderful ideas into reality.
