This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom might be different and sometimes learning is really hard for us, but we never give up! We love to come to school and love to learn even more. We can make anyone smile and warm your heart like no other.

My students range from mild to moderate disabilities but there is no 'dis' in their ability!

We are in a Title I school. All of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Half of my students are Spanish speaking. My students that are Spanish speaking have an even harder time learning because they receive English at school and Spanish at home. Having two languages spoken to you makes it even harder to comprehend, especially when you already have an intellectual disability.

My Project

My students have varying intellectual disabilities and learning is harder for them. I want to make it easier in any way I can because they work so hard for me.

My students need to be able to wiggle to help them focus and learn more easily.

Wobbling on a KORE Chair increases blood to the brain and thereby quiets the need for kids that are fidgety to move. It allows them to be able to stay seated during instruction and focus on what they are doing instead of focusing on fidgeting or moving around the room. Due to my student's intellectual disabilities, they already have a harder time than other typically developing children when it comes to learning. I want to make learning as easy as possible for them.
