My students are a group of 3rd graders from southern West Virginia. Many of them are from low income families and often go without their basic needs being met. Roughly 21% of families in our county are living below poverty level.
My ultimate goal is that every student views my classroom as a safe, welcoming place.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and each has his or her own story. They are already dealing with so much before they enter my classroom, yet they still manage to thrive. I strive to be a positive role model for my students and work to help them grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
My Project
When considering student success one doesn't typically think of furniture to be an important factor. However, research shows classroom furniture plays a vital role in overall student achievement.
These Berries Prism Rectangle activity tables will be invaluable in that they will promote collaboration and increase student engagement in the classroom.
These tables will allow students to work together on various projects and activities. They will provide students with the opportunity to learn from one another. Additionally, they will promote collaboration, enhance communication skills, and provide a sense of classroom community among students. I feel that these tables will greatly benefit my students both academically and socially.
