Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are growing readers. Many of them come from single-parent and extended family households. Our school community is supportive and we provide many opportunities for our students to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

Although some of my students are shy and uncertain of where they fit in, they are all adventurous, full of energy, and have a strong desire to learn and become fluent readers!

Each year, I am in awe of their ability to overcome their challenges and develop into life-long learners and lovers of literature.

My Project

I have several small groups of students who spend time with me throughout the day. On most days, my classroom is very active and my students are up and moving around! My room is very small so it is necessary that we use our space for multiple functions. They need to be able to move swiftly from one activity to the next to optimize their time with me which is very limited.

Roll stools would allow my students to quickly partner up for shared reading, join me at the table for group reading and discussion, make room for plays, or roll into a corner for independent silent reading.

Please help me give my students a multi-purpose classroom!
