This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a wonderful group of K–2 students in a Special Day Class (SLD) setting in a low-income community. Many of my students benefit from hands-on materials, visual supports, and flexible seating to help them focus, self-regulate, and engage in learning.
Last year, I often wished I had these essential items to better support my students' needs.
Now that I understand what works best for them, I’m motivated to start the new school year fully prepared.
These classroom supplies, like the rolling cart, bookshelves, and building blocks, will help me organize our learning zones, provide sensory-friendly tools, and support daily routines that build confidence and independence.
