This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently a special education teacher in a high needs middle school. My students are eager to learn, but lack proper classroom resources. I am requesting necessary classroom basics in order to create a supply center.

My students are very motivated and try their best despite the academic disabilities.

In addition to overcoming their delays, my students come from low income homes. All of the students in my school are eligible for free or reduced lunch due to the household incomes.

My Project

My students are 11 and 12 year-old children who don't have the necessary supplies for school. Some don't have the supplies due to the financial strain buying school supplies puts on the family. Others don't have supplies because their family life is too stressful for them to remember a pencil when escaping to school. Having a large supply of colored paper, tape, pens, post its, folders, glue sticks, etc would be a blessing each day. If you assist us in acquiring these materials you would be saving many less fortunate from the humiliation of explaining why they are unprepared and we will be set for success in the new school year coming up.

If you think back, one of the best things about the first day of school is having brand new sharpened pencils, new art supplies, and the desire to learn.

With your help, our classroom will be ready to start the new 2013-2014 school year off right with these basic necessary school supplies
