Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are amazing individuals from unique backgrounds that come to school every day to learn and grow! In the last few years they have overcome so many challenges to be here and that does not go unnoticed. Since the lockdown and virtual learning, we have been working hard to make sure we rebuild the tools students needs to succeed while also giving them the social emotional strategies they need for the future.

All students deserve access to materials that help them succeed inside and outside of the classroom!

This is why I am asking for materials that will benefit them as they rebuild their literacy skills and interpersonal skills. Highlighters, erasers, post it paper, markers, and labels will help build routines in the classroom as well as key anchor charts and provide materials for projects. We use highlighting strategies with all students, but especially with our English Language Learners as they tackle the English language. The books are requested by students for independent reading. The headphones will help students when they are using their literacy enrichment platforms so that they can focus on the material instead of be distracted by the audio of their peers using the same programs. The bulletin board materials are to help revitalize our hallways with positive phrasing and tools for students to use as they develop their social emotional health. One of our campus clubs is working on incorporating students in these decisions to build community. Having these materials will not only make our school a brighter place, but will create a strong foundation for students to feel seen and accepted.

The stickers and stress balls will be used for students not only as rewards when students are contributing positively to the community, but for students to use as outlets for their stress.
