My Project
My eighth grade Math Workshop students come from low-income families in Hawaii. Here, they have spent years in the education system being taught by long-term substitutes who do not lesson plan because the system struggles to hire full-time teachers. As a consequence, my students find themselves grade levels behind their peers.
My students work in classrooms resourced far behind their peers and need materials to close the gap!
My classroom lacks basic necessities including math materials to help students catch up to grade level math.
In addition, the students are often struggling to feel motivated and lack proper nutrition. Snacks motivate them to learn!
