Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm the 7th and 8th grader teacher for CCA and Health classes. I teach at a school with students on the Autism Spectrum. They are great students with tons of creativity. They are hard workers in the classroom and are constantly looking for ways to get their grades up. Our students are such a great help in the classroom and to other students.

I am requesting an embroidery machine for our sewing unit in class so that my students can learn how to make character plushies.

The goals for the embroidery machine are for my students to develop technical skills by teaching students how to operate an embroidery machine effectively and safely, as well as mastering various embroidery techniques such as satin stitch, appliqué, and digitizing designs. Next, fostering creativity by encouraging students to explore their creativity through designing and executing their own character plushies, incorporating personal expression and artistic flair. Next, It will help build confidence by providing students with opportunities to successfully complete embroidery projects and showcase their work, thereby boosting their confidence in their abilities and fostering a sense of achievement. And lastly, cultivating an appreciation for craftsmanship: by instilling an appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship involved in embroidery, as well as an understanding of its cultural and historical significance.

Each student brings unique strengths, interests, and experiences to our classroom. They all have varied learning styles where some students may excel in hands-on, tactile learning experiences, while others may thrive in visual or auditory learning environments. Catering to different learning styles ensures that all students can engage with the material effectively.

Ms. Sanchez will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 31.
