My Project
Help bring creativity, confidence, and language learning to life with an embroidery machine and supplies! This project will allow my middle school English learners to create custom designs while building vocabulary, fine motor skills, and self-expression in a fun and hands-on way. I teach an amazing group of middle school English learners who are full of creativity, energy, and curiosity. Many are newcomers from around the world, learning English while adjusting to a new culture and school system. Despite the challenges they face, my students are eager to express themselves and connect with others, and hands-on projects help them shine.
Our classroom would benefit from an embroidery machine and basic embroidery supplies (thread, stabilizer, hoops, fabric, and scissors).
These materials will allow students to design and stitch personalized projects like name patches, cultural symbols, and classroom decorations.
Through embroidery, students will practice listening, following directions, sequencing steps, and using content vocabulary, all key language skills. Embroidery gives students a calming, creative outlet where they can focus, collaborate, and be proud of what they make. It also connects to language and real-life skills: reading patterns, labeling materials, writing instructions, and sharing their work in English.
This project will make our classroom more inclusive and welcoming, especially for students who thrive through hands-on learning.
