My Project

Inspired by the storytelling traditions of Hmong Paj Ntaub (flower cloth) and historic community memorial quilts, my middle school leadership students are embarking on a collaborative textile project focused on identity and community leadership. Each student will design and construct an individual fabric square representing their personal identity, core values, and community roots. Once complete, these individual squares will be stitched together into a permanent wall quilt displayed proudly in our school.

To execute this vision with the dignity and quality it deserves, we need high-quality textile supplies and machinery.

Standard paper and school glue won't capture the texture, depth, and permanency required for a heirloom community art piece. With these materials, students will learn to translate their written journal reflections into visual textile art, taking full ownership of their role in our larger school community.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
