My Students

Every morning, I am greeted by 21 diverse faces. My students come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures. Some students rely on our free breakfast and lunch program and the clothing and toiletries I provide to get through the day. Other students are fortunate to have the necessities at home.

What do they have in common?

They all look forward to coming to our classroom community each day! I use a multi-sensory approach to teaching and I love what I do!

My Project

My students edit and revise their writing constantly. Our writing program recommends using special labels for students to self select the type of editing or revision they choose to use. These expensive labels are not provided by the school district but are very important to our curriculum. I can directly print student prompts on the labels that the students can self-select and apply to their work. This is motivating and meaningful!

My students set reading goals daily.

The goals are recorded on sticky notes, which means we go through a lot! The students also mark up their books with sticky notes for a number of different reasons that relate to their learning. These expensive sticky notes are not provided by the district but are very important for student learning!
