This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at a magnet middle school that has a mix of magnet and zoned students. I teach technology elective classes that focus on media and design. The majority of my students are from low-income households and from very diverse backgrounds.
My students love technology and being creative.
However, many of these students do not have access to technology outside of school. I try to make opportunities for my students to create projects based on real-world careers in technology and media.
My Project
As I am preparing for the upcoming school year, I am working hard to collect all the needed supplies for the projects I would like to create with my students. We design many multimedia projects that use a variety of materials, so tape and conductive stickers are used often. I am hoping to have plenty of these supplies so that students can be as creative as they want. I do not want to worry that we will run out. The Chibi stickers used with copper tape and batteries, will add sparkle to any project they make, and teach students the basics of how electricity works. I anticipate that my students will be eager to use them and can't wait to see what they create.
