"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything" - Plato. My students come into the classroom every day excited to play their instruments because they love music, and they are eager to take their musical performances to the next level.
They are an incredibly talented group of middle school students with a variety of personalities who love music and the ability to express themselves creatively.
My students are a tight-knit group of kids that bond well and encourage each other to strive for their best.
My Project
My students need percussion equipment so they can better contribute to the sound of the band. Right now, the percussionists have good instruments to play on, but the drum heads are old and dented, the mallets are worn or broken, and many hardware pieces are missing. This project will get students new mallets to perform with, new drum heads so they can produce good sounds, new hardware so they can set up equipment properly, new cases so the mallets and instruments are protected, and two accessory percussion instruments (cowbell and claves) that we do not have. These materials will allow my students to produce good sounds on their instruments, set them up properly, and protect them.
The percussionists in the band are always excited when they come into the classroom to play music.
I know they will be filled with joy and excitement when this project gets completed and they get to make beautiful sounds on their instruments with the proper implements and materials.
