This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Kindergarten through 3rd-grade scientists attend a high-poverty school in Wisconsin. I am extremely fortunate to be their elementary science teacher, and I am the only science teacher in our district for this age group. Our school has a new lab, and the students go two times a week to participate in hands-on activities that explore life, earth, and physical sciences. They are also involved in STEM activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They are excited and eager to learn, and one day they may become scientists themselves.
My Project
The scientists and STEM students in my class make so many projects that require tape and glue. Just this week, the K-4 students made a city and country buildings for their science notebook, the K-5 students made barns with milk cartons, the 1st-grade students made insects with labeled body parts, the 2nd-grade students made habitat dioramas and the 3rd-grade students flip charts about traits. The common denominator of all these projects is glue. We use glue all day every day. I try to buy glue at my weekly trip to the dollar store but it is difficult to keep up with the demand. Your donation will help keep the students thinking, learning, exploring, and discovering about all aspects of science, technology, engineering and math and creating projects while they learn.
