Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The preschool students in my class are students with special needs. Our school is located in an urban area and is a Title I school with 100% free lunch.
Many of my students come to school smiling despite the fact that many live below the poverty line and at home they often do not have the bare essentials.
My students are tiny little superheroes who despite the odds against them continue to learn and grow daily!
My Project
My students are in need of stickers for sensory and fine motor experiences. Many of my students have fine motor and sensory needs. Stickers are a fun, easy and cheap way to address those needs.
Stickers are great because they offer children an amazing sensory experience.
One side sticky, the other side smooth. Students, when they peel the sticker off the paper, can feel the sticky backing and make a conscious decision which way it needs to be in order for it to stick to the paper (or whatever surface they are putting the sticker on). Also, lets not forget the skill required to actually get the sticker off the sticker sheet, hold it between the fingers and place it on the paper.
Stickers will be a great addition to our fine motor time and sensory play.
