This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students with special needs attend an urban, public school in Baltimore, Maryland. Many of them come to school with small, floppy folders or spiral notebooks. I know they've done their work, yet, when it comes time for them to find their class notes, drills, and homework assignments, they are lost.
I want my students to learn basic organization skills that the students will be using across the curriculum in all of their classes. With the supplies I request, my students will be organizing their binders into 5 sections using the dividers. Next, they will create sub-sections using bright colored paper. All of their first quarter class notes, homework assignments and drills/warm-ups for each subject area will be placed in the appropriate sub-section.
My students have already been given agenda books that they use to record their daily homework assignments. Parents and teachers check these daily to assure everyone is aware of the upcoming assignments. With your help, we will be able to expand our organization efforts to include binders, divided by subject.
We will then have weekly notebook checks to assure that their binders remain organized throughout the school year. Thank you!!!!
