My Project

My goal is to give my 8th grade students the tools they need to succeed as they prepare for Algebra—the gateway to higher-level math. Too often, math feels distant and abstract, but with the right materials, my students can explore concepts in ways that are hands-on, engaging, and meaningful. This project will bring math alive through interactive notebooks, group problem-solving, and classroom resources that help students connect ideas and deepen understanding.

Every item in this project is chosen to directly impact learning.

Dry erase boards and markers will allow students to work out equations, get immediate feedback, and collaborate with peers. Graph sticky notes and chart paper will help them visualize proportional reasoning, slope, and linear relationships. Interactive notebook supplies like glue sticks, highlighters, and scissors will let students build foldables and math toolkits they can reference all year long. With calculators, pencils, and engaging math games, every student will have equal access to the tools they need to succeed.

What makes my students so special is their determination to persevere even when math gets tough. Many will be the first in their families to take Algebra, and they light up when a challenging concept finally “clicks.” They are creative, collaborative, and resilient learners who just need the right resources to unlock their potential. With your support, they will not only strengthen their Algebra skills but also see themselves as confident mathematicians, ready for high school and beyond.
