Stepping Up the Game in PE

My Students

My students from North Carolina are enthusiastic, creative, and always energetic when they enter my classroom. Since I teach PE, I get to see just about every student in the school from grades 6, 7, and 8 during the year. They come in ready to learn and excited to get their energy out while learning to live a life full of health and physical activity.

I love seeing and hearing all the creative ways my students problem solve in the gym while collaborating as a team.

Each individual at my school is unique and different in their own way with special talents that can all be highlighted in a physical education setting.

Do you remember your PE teacher playing the same games every day? Imagine the students in a setting where each talent is recognized and accommodated to. My students really enjoy physical education and are always looking for ways to increase their learning and get the most out of their mental and physical fitness for the day.

My Project

The students at my school would benefit so much from simple step pedometers in class. Even with their energy, some students require extra motivation. With a pedometer to count their steps, they can enter in challenges during class and strive to do their absolute best while counting their steps.

Students will step up the game with their pedometers by motivating and encouraging each other to increase steps and overall fitness for the day.

Students will be working towards a goal each day and grading can also be based around a certain number of steps that are required to have during a full block of classroom time.

The pedometer bracelets are a great incentive for students who achieve their step goals! Students will be able to wear bracelets and show off their accomplishment.
