Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They have hearing loss, vision loss and/or physical disabilities and range from ages 3-5. They are a determined group who will make great progress this year with the help of donors like you.

These students learn best from a variety of teaching methods such as hands-on learning, direct instruction, and modeling.

It is crucial that we give the children multiple ways to learn and the best opportunity to meet their sensory needs.

My Project

Our classroom is made up of students ages three to five years old. These students have a variety of special needs including being Deaf, blind, or developmentally delayed. Many of these students come to us still in diapers or training pants.

Our class restroom is equipped with a changing table; however, there are currently no stairs to help students reach the table.

This results in the teacher and teacher's aide lifting students on and off the table. This becomes very hard on one physically.

Having a safe way for the children to get onto the table will help ease the everyday task of changing.
