Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Literacy is a foundational stepping stone that will increase student's understanding of the world around them. Through this DonorsChoose grant, I have several pieces that will enhance and engage my students on their literacy journey. For most students in my classroom, English is their second language, being able to use magnetic letter and sound boards for small groups will help guide and give them the power to connect the sounds to the actual letter as they work through their spelling errors. Engaging students through games will also help them on their literacy journey and show them that school is a fun place to learn and explore.

The magic of getting lost in a book is a powerful reminder that I want to give my students.

The books that I have selected and added to this project help provide students with a hook to get lost in a book and find their love of reading. Some of the books are from a series that we have already read together in class and students have fallen in love with.
