Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Step Up is a program that supports and empowers youth. We have 114 students signed up for our program and we support them with homework, emotional and mental support, family dynamics and we are the liaison for teachers/admin and our community.
Step Up's funding has been cut.
We need support from our community; snacks are one of our biggest motivators for our students. As we help them with school work, we give them something to eat so they can stay focused on their assignments.
We also need support to help our students stay in school with; food, school supplies, clothing, and shoes. These items will help our students stay warn, engaged, and come to school and not feel hungry, cold or even pointed out for not having the right gear for them to stay on track.
We want to eliminate any barriers, so the students can really be involved with their education and impact their future without the worry of not having their needs met.
