This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our children are dreamers. They are eager and motivated to learn. They come from families who are hard-working, and they are teaching their children that same motivation for learning. Many of our families fall below the national poverty levels; some experiencing the situation of being homeless or are home insecure. In addition, English is a second language for the majority of our families or they are bilingual households.
Every child deserves a great start.
Our children deserve no less than great. Our children are getting ready for kindergarten, and it is our job to prepare them! Having the right materials and devices is a large part of preparing students for school success!
My Project
In my preschool classroom we have daily need of a microphone and step stool. Every day after free play we do recall. Recall is a time where students share where they played, who they played with and what they did. Students ask questions to the friends that are recalling. We currently have students stand on a table so that all friends can see them. We would use the step stool as a platform so that all my students can see while the friends are recalling. It has also been discovered that it can be difficult to hear the friends recalling; a wireless Bluetooth microphone will help my student hear themselves better. When we are not using our stool for recall my students will use it for putting their artwork on our drying rack. It is up on a shelf and only my tallest students can reach it. Having the step stool will eliminate barriers for all of my students to dry their artwork.

Everyone likes to hear and be heard and having this step stool and microphone is going to make our recall time much more efficient. I always want to better the learning environment for my students and these two pieces will do that for my students.
