I teach a smart and creative group of fifth graders. We are a school that every one of my students has the opportunity to be a leader. All of my students have classroom leadership roles and many have been hired for school-wide leadership roles.
Being leaders means that they use the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students.
As they take responsibility for themselves and focus on what is in their circle of control, they are able to excel in all areas of their lives.
My students are a take charge group, and they love to be involved in many different tasks and roles. They are always up for a challenge and love to learn new things.
My Project
With these requested Apple iPad mini tablets and VR headsets, we will be well on our way to having a piece of technology in every student's hand! My students LOVE learning with technology and are so engaged when we are able to use technology for math and science. There are so many different STEM activities that we can do with the iPads that will be beneficial to all students.
Holding the attention of students these days is a daunting task.
When my students are engaged, excited, AND learning, then I believe it has been a successful day. If all students were able to participate in activities with their own device, I believe they would be more engaged and excited to participate. It would also allow me to gauge individual student learning. These materials would make it possible for students to explore STEM through virtual field trips, coding, and the many apps that are available for students to use, such as Crazy Gears, Hopscotch, and the Robot factory. The roller coaster kit would be a fantastic STEM activity for my students to learn more about gravity and force and motion.
