Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach at a school wide Title I school, and as such, all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the lack of resources and challenges students face on a daily basis, they are an energetic and enthusiastic group. They come to school each day eager to learn new things and apply the skills they have been taught. Due to limited funding, certain materials and resources necessary to enhance the curriculum and not available to them or to their families..
My Project
One of the most pervasive challenges students face due to Covid 19-related school closures, is the amount of screen time. Understandably, sudents need to be provided with engaging, hands on experiences, away from the computer screen. One way to accomplish this is through STEM activities. With a gift card for Teacher Pay Teachers (TPT), I will be able to purchase STEM activities/resources that take the distance learning format into account. Resources such as STEM CHALLENGES for the ENTIRE YEAR will provide students with the opportunity to collaborate and re-evaluate their own ideas.
