Stemming With Math!

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher, I see the change that is going on in the world. I see this everyday in the classroom as my students are pushed to grow up too quickly, sacrificing play time for learning letters, numbers, sight words, writing, etc. And while I support early intervention learning and love my job, I also want to ensure my students know that they can still learn through play and are given that opportunity in the classroom.

Having these STEM manipulatives and activities on hand would allow my students the opportunity to learn through play during choice centers, independent play/free time, and give them something to work towards as a reward for good behavior and completing their required classwork.

My students love to have hands on math things and I want to provide them with more options to choose from and increase possible opportunities for informal learning through play in my classroom as much as possible.

Not only would they be learning social skills and problem solving skills from interacting with peers in play situations, but these materials would also allow students to strengthen their math still. As a teacher Kindergarten doesn't mean it has to be boring or formal lessons...learning can happen EVERYWHERE and in ANY WAY!
