My Project

We are looking for safe and durable science materials for our students at varying developmental levels between 8mo and 4yo to use in exploring how the world works. First, we are in need of a clear plant observation window to give our students the opportunity to see our plants grow in real-time. Second, we need a clear, yet sturdy tot tube to give our students in the exploratory phase of development a way to observe objects rolling/falling in an appropriate way. Finally, we need some durable science toys, including the magnetic gears and the toddler microscope to introduce these materials to our students who may not be able to access due to self-regulation delay and/or fine motor challenges.

Our goals for this project are to make science and STEM learning more accessible and concrete to our young learners requiring special education services.

The materials provided by the curriculum are not durable enough or allow for students to explore the concepts presented in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner.

Our students are ages 3 and 4 in a self-contained special education classroom to accommodate delays in speech and language, cognition, executive functioning, and fine/gross motor skills. Our school is a Focus school and a first-year Community school, with a FARMS rate of 63%, EML rate of 17%, and higher than average percentage of students with IEPs. Our students would benefit greatly from your generosity and support!
