My students need Chromebooks in order to operate their LEGO Education WeDo 2 kits. The Chromebooks will also be used to integrate technology in all content areas, preparing the future generation for the increasingly digital workforce.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
STEM education is essential for our future economy and for our children's success. I teach 18 gifted third grade students at a high poverty school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. These students are extremely eager to dive into STEM activities, particularly robotics. We recently received 5 LEGO WeDo 2.0 sets with Bluetooth technology and now we need Chromebooks to take control of our robots!
I teach a class of curious gifted students with a desire to learn and an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.
My mission is to lay a strong foundation in the highest growing career fields so that my students will be able to compete on a global scale.
My Project
With a set of Chromebooks, my students will not only learn to program robots, they will also utilize the technology in countless ways. The students will be able to research, create projects, and communicate through student blogs. It is vital that we equip our future generation with the skills they need to be successful in the workforce of tomorrow.
Chromebooks in the classroom will engage students with interactive lessons and prepare them for an increasingly digital workforce.
Soon, students will also be expected to take standardized tests online. Introducing my third grade students to this technology will prepare them for success!
