This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to learn but are limited in resources. These 170 students live in a rural area where enrichment and engaging activities are limited, the only place they have access to these kinds of activities is at school. We are a Title I school that receives 100% free meals. Auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners fill up my classes, daily. It is a true heterogeneous group that just wants to experience amazing lessons and want to be at school to learn.

I am in need of basic classroom supplies in order to provide students with basic needs and a safe, stable, and adequate learning environment in the science classroom.

We are a public 7-8 school dedicated to providing a comprehensive and quality education for the students that we serve. The benefits to students and the entire school community are tremendous. We are always learning, always growing, always experimenting. School doesn’t have to be a place, but rather a frame of mind that uses the STEAM, project-based learning, cooperative learning, etc. as a lever to explosive growth, social-emotional connections, and the foundation for the innovators of tomorrow…today!

My Project

My students use science interactive notebooks to record their observations, phenomena, experiment results, etc. They need the glue to include their findings. Most of the wood materials will be used to complete projects. Some of the STEM projects they will be doing include building bridges and catapults with the wood craft sticks. The bridges lesson will include them using mathematical computations to figure out the exact weight the bridge will be able to carry. They will need all dimensions. This will require for them to use the engineering design to carry out their project.

Students will use these materials to glue items on their interactive notebook, build prototypes, such as bridges, trebuchets, catapults, etc.

Most of my students are kinesthetic learners. They will all benefit from making such abstract concepts that they will be able to touch.

All of my students will use these materials as manipulative tools to master most of the standards but more importantly to collaborate and engage them in the classroom.
