This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an awesome, cross categorical classroom with students with IEPs for multiple special needs. The students are eager to learn. Some of them have challenges that make it harder to be successful, so my mission is to provide them with resources to help them be the best student and overall person they can be! Finding different and interesting ways to teach them is what I love to do!

The neighborhood is a low-income area, but the spirit and willingness to learn is rich!

It is a large school district that is unable to fund every project teachers find valuable to their classroom.

My Project

Not only do I want hands-on opportunities for my students, but I also want them to appreciate what they can learn through reading. These materials will help given them hands-on math learning as well as reading about different STEM issues, people and ideas. I think it is important to provide different aspects of STEM learning. I will incorporate literacy to help teach them the importance of the written word, not just for entertainment but to cultivate an appreciation for learning new things. I also want to expose them to different scientists and ideas that have been shared in the world of STEM.
